Social Work Compact: Development and Current Status

Presented by Laura Groshong, LICSW, CSWA Director, Policy and Practice

The Social Work Compact is an important option that will allow clinical social workers to work in other states without having to become licensed in them.  The only way the Compact will become reality is if 7 states pass the bill that creates the Compact.

This 90-minute ethics talk will explain the whole process of creating the Compact and how individual LICSWs can join the Compact, once it is available.  Here are the learning objectives for this presentation:

  1. Understand what the Compact will accomplish
  2. Understand the process for joining the joining the Compact individually
  3. Provide tools for lobbying your state legislature to pass the Compact bill

This presentation has already been given virtually to five Societies, with very positive responses.  With any luck, the seven states needed to create the Commission that will oversee the Compact will be in place by next summer.

Laura Groshong, LICSW, CSWA Director of Policy and Practice, a dynamic and prolific presenter, will be giving this talk, and will answer all your questions.
