Description
Clinical Social Work Student I was standing in front of a quilt from Gee's Bend in awe of the handiwork and their stories of community and resilience. All of a sudden, I had a flash of understanding. Quilts are representative of our lives. Each square is a different element of ourselves; cumulatively, they tell the story of our lives. Each of our quilts is unique, and no one knows their meanings better than the quilt maker. I am excited to learn about your quilt. I am enthusiastic to stand with you as you explore what you want to weave for yourself and your family. I believe therapy is a self-reflection process for desired growth and healing. I hope to weave alongside you. Let's work toward creating a story that feels grounded and whole, robust and vibrant while embracing life's challenges as an opportunity to learn. A true believer in following your heart, I have embarked on a career shift from teaching to clinical social work. I am currently a student at Columbia University and a Community Intern at ARC. I plan to specialize in clinical therapy for children, teens, and parents with trauma histories. I aim to work with the whole family and partner with schools to support wrap-around, family-focused, supportive care for our children and communities. I am deeply committed to anti-racism practice, celebrate diversity, actively work to create structures for equity, and believe that every voice not only has a seat at the table but a heard voice. I look forward to continuing to serve my community through advocacy, connection, a warm, open atmosphere, and a sense of humor
