Ethics in Clinical Practice: Working with Clients Impacted by Adoption, Presented by: Brenda Romanchik, LCSW

In our work as clinical social workers, it is imperative that we understand how our Code of Ethics informs the work we do with people who are impacted by adoption. Using the NASW Code of Ethics as a framework, we will explore the history of adoption, the importance of the language that we use, and clinical issues that may arise. Additionally, participants will acquire resources and interventions to aid them in working with clients.

Objectives:
1) Learn how the history of adoption impacts our clients today.
2) Learn how to use the NASW Code of Ethics as a guide in working with clients impacted by adoption.
3) Learn how to use language that helps strengthen the therapeutic alliance.
4) Learn how to use resources to assist our clients in understanding the impact of adoption in their lives.
5) Obtain a resource list
