Mental Health and Medical Management Pertaining to Chronic Illness, Presented by: Jalinia Logan, LCSW-CCATP, LPN

In this program course, particiapants will learn the importance of managing mental health with and without having a medical illness. Develop therapeutic tools to provide support to people living with chronic illness and also develop an understanding of how mental illness can affect one’s physical health. In our work as clinical social workers, it is imperative that we rule out medical when addressing and diagnosing mental disorders. Participants will learn how to help clients identify ways to advocate for proper assessments through recommendation of various tests, labs, along with having the necessary medical support providers. Learning therapeutic treatment modalities and some basic knowledge about various medical illness’s is necessary in our work especially pertaining to being in the healthcare field. Additionally, participants will acquire knowledge and some interventions on how to better aid them in working with clients that may have chronic illness or some type of general medical condition.
